The Kapunda Undies [pronounced like Cap unde-niable] are super high-rise undies designed specifically to fit large bodies. They feature a fully enclosed gusset, full coverage, and an easy and comfortable elastic application. View B has a side panel and is perfect for colour-blocking or scrap-busting and View C features an elastic lace finish. This pattern is suitable for sewing on a home sewing machine and doesn't require a serger/overlocker. The illustrated instructions give directions for sewing the undies using the zigzag stitch function on your machine! Alternatively, you can use serger/overlocker for the seams, but you will also need to use a zigzag stitch to apply the elastic and finish the gusset. Elastic Application: We have you apply the elastic 'straight off the roll', so you don't cut the elastic for your waistband and leg holes prior to sewing it on. Check out the sew-along video here. We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Kapunda region, the Ngadjuri people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Difficulty 1/5 Sizes Sizes Available: Sizes A-M (see size chart in images) 41.5-71.5 (105-182cm) Hip Please select your Undies size based on your hip measurement. Bear in mind you need to be able to pull on your undies over your hips. If your waist measurement falls into a smaller size than your hips, customize the sizing for the waist when you apply the waist elastic (stretch the elastic more as you apply it). If your waist falls into a larger size than your hip, blend between sizes (this is sometimes called “grading between sizes”). As with any garment, we recommend making a toile/muslin out of inexpensive material before cutting into your fashion fabric. This is especially important for undies because everyone’s body and undies preferences are different! If our sizes are too small to include you, we will grade our patterns up for you. Please get in touch with us here. Fabric & Notions Suggested Fabric: This pattern is designed for use with 4-way stretch fabrics. Stretch and recovery should be equal in both the horizontal and vertical directions. Suggested fabrics are: cotton/spandex, bamboo/spandex, merino/spandex. You can also make these undies in 2-way stretch fabrics as long as there is significant horizontal stretch, however they will have the tendency to stretch out through the day. Examples of these fabrics would include cotton jersey, merino jersey. Fabric Yardage: See chart in images.
